Emergency Management

Emergency Management Logo

The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) serves as the coordinating point for the City in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from disasters.  The OEM works with City Departments, the County OEM, regional emergency management, local businesses, other local partners, and the Texas Division of Emergency Management to develop plans to lessen the impacts of a disaster to the City.

The Mayor serves as the Director of the City’s Emergency Management programs and appoints an Emergency Management Coordinator to manage the daily activities of these programs.   During a disaster, the Mayor serves as the director of the Emergency Operations Center and oversees the City’s response to the disaster.

CivicReady is a free communication tool which communicates important information from the City by email, text and voice. Members can choose how they wish to receive notifications. Choosing text or voice delivery is important as one can receive messages by cell phone if internet service is lost.

CivicReady is used during disasters for non-emergency communication. CivicReady is also used for routine communication such as boil water notices, burn ban notifications, and brush pick up schedules.
