Building Bridges: Phase 1C Brings Major Upgrades to Marble Falls Parks

Home - Spotlights Posted on June 17, 2025

The City of Marble Falls is pleased to announce construction progress on the Backbone Creek Pedestrian Bridge, a key component of Phase 1C of the Parks Master Plan. The Backbone Creek Pedestrian Bridge will connect Lakeside Park with the neighboring Johnson Park across Backbone Creek. With a total budget of $4.2 million, this phase focuses on enhancing park connectivity and recreational access for the community.
The Backbone Creek Pedestrian Bridge is scheduled to be set into place this week. Once installed, crews will require several weeks to complete concrete work and safety preparations before the bridge is open to the public. The structure has been designed with 10 feet of clearance between the waterline and the bottom of the bridge, ensuring ample space for watercraft to navigate Backbone Creek.
Myers Concrete Construction is the general contractor leading the effort, which includes the installation of the Backbone Creek Pedestrian Bridge, trail improvements in Johnson Park and Lakeside Park, a babbling brook between Lakeside Park and Hidden Falls Inn, and a second pedestrian bridge across the brook. These improvements will provide safer, more accessible routes throughout the City’s parks network.
Residents can look forward to expanded access and improved mobility between parks once the bridge and surrounding trail segments are complete.
