Each month, the City of Marble Falls highlights one of the many departments that help keep our community running through our City Spotlight series. This month, we’re featuring the Marble Falls Police Department and the dedicated men and women who work every day to keep our community safe.
The Marble Falls Police Department focuses on service, professionalism, and building relationships within the community. Officers strive to handle every interaction with honesty while looking for opportunities to connect with residents beyond enforcement situations, strengthening trust between officers and the community they serve.
The department operates with an authorized strength of 31 commissioned officers and four civilian staff members across five divisions: Patrol, Criminal Investigation, School Resource, Animal Control and Administration. The Patrol Division includes four patrol sergeants and 12 patrol officers who respond to calls for service throughout the city. The Criminal Investigation Division includes a detective sergeant, three detectives, and a crime scene evidence technician who investigates criminal cases. An Animal Control Officer assist with animal-related calls and helps ensure the safety and wellbeing of both residents and animals. The School Resource Division places a sergeant and five school resource officers on campuses throughout Marble Falls Independent School District, while the Administrative Division provides leadership and support staff for the department’s daily operations.
Training and preparedness are essential parts of the job. Officers complete at least 40 hours of required in-house training each year to maintain certification through the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). Officers also have opportunities for additional specialized training, including areas such as drone operations. The department regularly trains with regional partners including the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office, Granite Shoals Police Department, Marble Falls Area EMS, Marble Falls Fire Rescue, and the City of Burnet Police Department to prepare for large-scale emergencies.
Beyond responding to calls, the department remains active in the community through programs such as National Night Out, Halloween in the Park, school outreach led by school resource officers, and educational programs like reading events at the Marble Falls Public Library.
As Marble Falls continues to grow, the department continues adapting to meet the needs of the community. Officers rely on technology such as drones, data dashboards, online reporting tools, and body camera systems to support their work while maintaining transparency.
While much of their work isn’t always visible, policing always carries real risks. Through it all, the Marble Falls Police Department is dedicated to serving the community with professionalism, integrity, and strong relationships with residents.
