City Election Information
The City Secretary serves as the Election Administration Official for City Elections.. City Elections are conducted in accordance with the Texas Election Code. The regular City Election is held annually on the first Saturday in May as required by the Texas Election Code. All municipal elections are publicized in accordance with the Texas Election Code.
The City of Marble Falls contracts with Burnet County to conduct elections.

Mayor & Council Seats
The City of Marble Falls is a Home Rule City with a Council-Manager form of government. The City Council consists of a Mayor and six (6) Councilmembers who are elected at large under a place system. Each Councilmember occupies a place on the Council and is elected by plurality from all candidates running for the place by the City's qualified voters.
Term Information
Each member serves a staggered two (2) year term, thus, three (3) of the members are voted on one (1) year, with the remaining members, including the Mayor, elected the following year. Term limits are in place, which means the Mayor and Councilmembers may serve for a maximum of six (6) years or three (3) consecutive terms.
Candidate Qualifications
According to the City of Marble Falls Charter, Section 5.05, a candidate for an elective office shall meet the following qualifications:
- Be a registered voter of the City of Marble Falls
- Have resided within the corporate city limits for at least 12 months preceding the election
- Not be in arrears in the payment of any taxes or other liability due the City
- Shall not hold more than one (1) public office per election
- Not be an employee of the City
Qualifications and Requirements for Voting in Texas
You may register to vote at any time. Voter registration occurs at the County level by completing and submitting a voter registration application. The voter registration application can be obtained at the Burnet County Clerk’s Office, 220 South Pierce, Burnet, Texas 78611, 512-756-5420. The application must be received in the Voter Registrar’s Office or postmarked 30 days before an election for you to be eligible to vote in that election.
To be eligible to register to vote in Texas, a person must be:
- A United States citizen;
- A resident of the Texas county in which the application for registration is made;
- At least 18 years old on Election Day;
- Not finally convicted of a felony, or, if so convicted, must have (1) fully discharged the sentence, including any term of incarceration, parole, or supervision, or completed a period of probation ordered by any court, or (2) been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disability to vote; and
- Not determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be (1) totally mentally incapacitated or (2) partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.
You must be a resident of the City of Marble Falls (Precincts 19 and 20) and a registered voter of Burnet County by the registration deadline to be eligible to vote in City Elections. Election Identification Certificate (EIC) Required for Texas Voters
The Texas Election Code 631(b) requires a photo ID to vote in Texas. The Texas Transportation Code, Chapter 521A and 37 Texas Administration Code, Sections 15.181-185, authorizes DPS to issue Election Identification Certificates.
