This month, our City Spotlight series highlights the City Secretary’s Office, a key part of keeping Marble Falls’ government organized, transparent, and accessible.

The City Secretary’s Office serves as the official record keeper for the City and provides essential support to City Council, boards and commissions, and the public. The office prepares and posts meeting agendas, records and maintains official minutes, manages ordinances and resolutions, and ensures meetings and elections comply with state law.

Residents often contact the office for public records requests, City Council agendas and minutes, election information, and board and commission applications. The team also guides residents through the public information request process and helps make City documents easy to access and understand.

The office is supported by a full-time City Secretary and a part-time Deputy who manage official records using electronic systems and state retention schedules to keep information accurate, secure, and organized. As Marble Falls continues to grow, expanded use of digital records and online access has helped improve efficiency and service.

The City Secretary is a Texas Registered Municipal Clerk, having earned certification through the Texas Municipal Clerks Association and the University of North Texas, and has served the City in this role since 1997. The Deputy City Secretary is currently working toward certification. To maintain professional standards, recertification is required every five years.

Through transparency, accuracy, and responsiveness, the City Secretary’s Office plays an important role in building trust between the City and the community. Whether answering questions, providing documents, or helping residents get involved, the team remains committed to supporting good governance and serving Marble Falls with care.
