A public meeting is being held on February 8, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the City of Marble Falls, City Council Chambers, 800 Third Street, Marble Falls, Texas to discuss the City ’s proposed project to relocate the wastewater treatment plant from the existing location at the southwest corner of Yett St. and Ave. L to a location ½ mile north-northwest of the western end of Colt Circle.
One of the purposes of this hearing is to discuss the potential environmental impacts of the project and alternatives to it. The total estimated cost of the project is $75 million. The estimated monthly bill for a typical resident is currently $109.40 for 5,000 gallons of consumption. A user rate increase of $20.90 will be required to finance this project. In addition, a connection fee/tax/surcharge/other fee of $12,000 will be required.
Applications for financial assistance for the project have been filed with the Texas Water Development Board, P.O. Box 13231, Austin, Texas, 78711-3231. A Finding of No Significant Impact (FNSI) under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) has been determined by the Economic Development Administration (EDA) under a project grant. The Special Award Conditions (SAC) of that grant required supplemental documentation and coordination with the Texas Historical Commission, Texas Parks and Wildlife, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and a public meeting. The original EDA grant environmental documents, FNSI, and the supplemental documents, and consultation with the additional agencies are available for public review at the City Offices at 800 Third Street, Marble Falls, Texas between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. for 30 days following the date of this notice.
Written comments on the proposed project may be sent to the attention of Christina McDonald, City Secretary, 800 Third Street, Marble Falls, Texas 78654 or to the Texas Water Development Board.
